I bought contacts at radio shack that say
switch open with magnet engaged.  I have
turned it every which way but it still
alarms when the door closes instead of
opens.  I thought I got it to work once but
now I am not sure.  Is there a secret I am
missing or is it just the wrong contact?

Backwards. The switch must be closed when
the magnet is next to the switch. Unless you
set it up so the magnet is next to the
switch when the door is open and you want it
to alarm.
The door/window sensor is triggered whan the
switch is open. With the supplied switches
from X10 on the sensor. The switch is closed
until the magnet is moved away from the
switch by the window or door opening.

Also if you are adding an extra switch to
the original to have two trip switches. They
go in series. Original switch has one of the
sensor wires on it; the other is removed. A
new wire is added to the screw on the
original switch to one of the screws on the
new switch. The second original wire goes to
the second screw on the new switch. You can
splice a new extension wire to the second
original if not long enough.

Need a NC (normally closed mag switch).

Sorry for the long winded speach. As Rob
said incorrect switch. I was trying to give
details on adding an extra switch for
covering two areas with one door/window
sensor asm and an added magnetic switch.

was able to figure it out the next day.
Otherwise it is all going well so far I am
happy with the product.
