UK range is limited, can US components be adapted to work in the UK?

Here is the little island of United Kingdom we are simply to careful with our money. Which means we simply don't get the same choices as you lucky Yanks! X10 range on the .com site is vast and the examples on the smarthomes.com site make me (as an englishman) very envious!

Q. I understand We have differing voltages etc..., but can the products avaiable in the states be modified (obviously sacrificing the warrant) to work over here in the UK?

 Dominic  The simple answer is yes!  There is some documentation  for certain modules Here
Unfortunately not every device is documented but you may be able to apply some of the info from one device to another!

Just be careful with any wireless devices like transceivers; remotes and motion sensors. . US and Canada are 310MHz. European is 433.92 MHz.

Companies like Franzus sell foreign-to-US receptacle adapters and voltage converters.  Some of the latter are pure transformers and I've wondered whether an X10 signal would jump the gap between input and output without modification.  For example, might this unit:

be used in Europe with the US model TM751 Tranceiver and US models of motion detectors and RF remotes.

Someone in Europe (or a curious North American on holiday there) will probably have to take the plunge and try it out.
