All was well, now NOTHING works
« on: December 03, 2005, 10:17:06 AM »

I have 30+ X10 devices throughout the house,
running from several controller types.  All
have been working smoothly for a number of
years.  Now nothing works.  I've replaced
modules.  As a test I've even put a new lamp
module and a plug-in controller in the same
outlet, and tried this in multiple outlets
around the house, but no response.  I've
also unplugged all my modules and tried the
same test - nothing.

Any new electronic things that maybe making
excessive X10 Line Noise or Absorbing the
Signals. There was another post here, where
the user found the Power Company had an
excessively high noise from the street feed
and it killed their whole home. I believe
they had their interface software showing a
constant address signal.

Thanks Brian. I've had the problem before,
where a new electronic device was plugged
in, but in this case I can find nothing
new.  The X-10 monitor I have, although I
don't know if I can now trust it, shows no
activity.

One by one turning off the house circuit
breakers isolated the problem to an HP
scanner - one that had been plugged into the
same location for 4 years. Evidently a
filter in the power supply must have failed.

My system went down a couple of weeks ago.
Signals were getting to the transciever but
nothing except that relay was working.
My, not on a device porch light was not
working.
A few minutes ago I walked into the kitchen
and the light came on. Everything's back to
normal. So I tried the porch light and it
came on.
I suspect moisture in the porch light
socket created the interferance.

Good Evening,

Do you have anybody else connected to the same transformer i.e. a neighbors home?  If so they could have installed something that is attenuating the X10 signals rendering your stuff non operational.

The odds that a power surge took all of the x10 out is like my two cozens slim and none but??? Borrow enough to make a minimal system i.e. one light or whatever and see if it works or take your module to a friend and see if they work on his system? Then you will know for sure.

Good Luck
