Lamp or Appliance module
« on: January 12, 2006, 09:49:07 AM »

Can I use a lamp or appliance module to
control my ceiling light? Y have some space
available to put it inside the ceiling
light. And would either of this module
control fluorecent lights?

Thanks for your quick answers

Alvin,
Do NOT use a Lamp Module with a flourescent
fixture of any kind, probably not even with
the compact flourescent replacement light bulbs,
altho I have no direct experence with them (yet).

Look to my posting of this date regarding
wall switch failures for a re worked module
work around, but remember, you're on your own
here when you modify a UL approved appliance
that was originally intended to plug in, to
one that's permanently wired in.  If you do
rework a plug in module to a wired in, keep
the electronics in the fire retardent case it
came in and run wires out through the empty
plug and socket slots.  Mine work fine.

X10PRO makes a module that fits u=inside
many fixtures and i sold as a fixture module
#XPFM. It is a non dimming module as Ron
said. Any dimming type module or wall switch
should not be used for a flourescent type
bulb. Both the module and light could be
damaged by the combination.

Two nights ago I found all four lights on my
back porch on. All are controled by a wall
switch module with a 4 address DCH Wall
controller inside the back door.  I had
recently installed a new Flat Panel TV in
the kitchen, but all the lights have worked
fine for the 10 days that it has been
installed.  I had just installed a new
Lexmark printer the night the lights went
bad, but on a different circuit.  While
Troubleshooting I did unplug both items with
no change in the Lights.  I removed the
controller and one light module and set up a
test rig with a light bulb on my work
bench.  The units work fine.  I went back to
the kitchen and pluged the test rig in
sevral outlets.  They did not work plugged
in to any of the outlets in the kitchen.  I
tried other outlets in  the rest of the
house.  The units work fine.  Here is the
kicker.  When pluged into the outlet with
the flat panel TV also pluged in the test
rig works fine.  Anyone have a suggestion or
am I going crazy?
