hello, I am fairly new to x10 and need some
info. I use a IR543 on the 1st floor of my
home and would like to know how exactly I
could set up my computer to turn on
upstairs just by pushing a button on the
IR543 downstairs. I understand I would need
an appliance module, but how do I set up my
PC so it will boot up when the module gets
the power up signal? Thanks in advance for
any help.

PC Power Supplies are known X10 signal
suckers or noise makers. You may get it ON
and not back off. Though turning off the AC
on a running computer is asking for
corrupted files. So an X10 type filter maybe
needed. My APC BX1000 UPS killed my X10
signals until I added a 10 amp X10 type
filter to its ac line cord.

OK in the CMOS Setup of the motherboard.
Look for a power setting maybe in advanced
or a power tab. Each BIOS is different. Look
for something like power up on AC restore.
Many have a choice of stay off; last state
before AC removed or always power on with ac
application.
