CM15A to SEND, not only recieve, RF / IR signals
« on: December 01, 2004, 11:02:13 AM »

It would be really good that in the future
CM15A to send out RF/IR signals. Thus, cm15a
would control my home theater among other
things!

Maybe it can. Found the cm15a data in the
FCC database as it has to be registered. The
schematics show a 310 Mhz Transmitter module
and a 310 Mhz receiver module in the case.
The description of operation also says
something about the transmitter.

RF signals can be sent from the CM15a
interface but can't send IR (not in the
design). You would need to place the
interface in line of sight of the equipment
to be controlled and most plugins are
within 2ft of the floor. there are devices
that can be attached to your computer to
transmit IR (maybe X10 can program an event
dispatcher to allow external programs to
react to AHP events). I would think that
you would want a universal remote control
to have a macro set up to trigger an
X10/AHP event so that you can setup your
home theatre system, dim the lights, close
the window shades and start your movie -
you know the REAL THEATRE experiance. There
are IR\RF remotes available to set up such
an experiance but usually their first
function is to control your Audio/video
components first - mostly limited to
sending X10 on/off codes.
