Problems communicating on power lines can be
caused by one of two things. 1) A phase
issue, in which the X10 power line carrier
signal is unable to "jump" from one phase of
110v power to the other in a home. A phase
coupler, mentioned in this post, fixes a
phase issue. Or 2) Line noise. Line noise is
can be caused by almost anything plugged
into an AC outlet.
