Developer Documentation and a ?
« on: January 23, 2006, 03:36:30 PM »

I am looking through the sdk and don't see
much reference documentation. Is there any
thing available?

Next question, the example to turn on/off
the light on e1 works on the same machine
that has the interface connected.  But when
I try to do it remotely nothing happens.
First I thought I needed to run the
activehome_ installer, Still nothing works.

What I am trying to build is a "intranet"
that when I connect to a central web site I
can control anything from anywhere...
I already have web services running on the
pc with the interface, So what am I missing
here?

Todd,

There is not a lot of documentation except
for the help file (look in the install
directory) and the examples (again, look in
the install directory or download from this
site). I have tinkered off and on with a
web application. The .dll doesn't seem to
like the client/server environment (ASP).
If you use plain html with the script
command it seems to work fine. I've been
told it has to with not being able
multithread. The example you want to look
at is ahabview.html. If you have a junk
email address you want to post I'd be happy
to send you another example. It only covers
ON/OFF commands. I have an ASP project that
includes DIM/BRIGHT/ALL ON/ALL OFF but it
errors out about every 3rd or 4th command
(I have posted the error more than once and
X10 has no comment).

Let me know if you want that example.

BTW... If you want to run it like an
Intranet app you will need to register
the .dll on each machine it's used on. The
script command is a client method, not a
server method (ASP or other).
