Newbie: What's the difference between Appliance Module and Lamp Module?

The appliance module (AM486) says it is rated at 15amps, 500W.  The lamp module is (LM465) says it is rated at 300 watts.  Both cost $12.99.  Why wouldn't the appliance module work just as well if not better for a lamp?  There is no explanation on the site.

Lamp modules can be dimmed, applicance modules can not be dimmmed.  That's the difference.

Appliance modules can also control devices that would damage a lamp module. Like a low voltage light run by a transformer or a compact fluorescent type bulb. A also an appliance module will not respond to an All Lights On command only to an All Units Off commend. Lamp modules if the power fails default to off when power is again applied. An appliance module stays at the state it was during the power failure. On if it was on off if it was off. Appliance modules have a mechanical switch in them and make a noticeable clunk when switched.
