HOLD BUTTON FOR MACROS

It would be nice to be able to put a macro
on hold like I can with the timers simply
by checking a box. There are times when I
may want a particular macro not to run.
When the grandchildren are staying over I
may want to disable any macro, which causes
chimes to sound. I now have to go around
and unplug the chimes or delete the macro
so as not to have them wake up the little
ones.

You could make the macro conditional on a flag setting. That way all you would need to do is set a flag when you wanted it to work and clear the flag when you didn't.

Thanks for the suggestion.  :)
The only problem is that I have not found flags to be very reliable. I use them in several macros and some times they work and other times they do not.

I had some challenges in the past with setting flags but I can't recall any problems testing them. Maybe I'll play with it some more.

You could make a phantom module and have it be a condition! Much more reliable than a flag! ;)

Tuicemen,

I'm sure that this should be obvious but I am not seeing it. It has been a long day. ??? ??? How would this work? Could you give an example?

Thanks,
:) :)

jimc: you don't see it because it doesn't exist! ;) you have to create it!
This is how make a new module I use  House code F  (you want to make it a house code which your not useing) the module does nothing because you don't have that module but AHP thinks you do. so when you tell it to turn that module on it reports that that module is on  you can then use that modules condition(ON/OFF) as a condition in smartmacros. I made a room for mine (Phantom Modules) some I use as conditions  others trigger macros for flags ON/OFF

Tuicemen,

Thank You. I will have to give that a try as I have no confidence in using the flags. At one time I thought the flags were working fairly well. After one of the updates, and I don't recall which one, they seem to have become unreliable.

I too found them unreliable and still had some phantom modules in use without a hickup so I returned to them! ;)
