X10Pro thanks for the advice. Both
approaches worked and got PTP up and
running on the host computer.
I wanted to share my experience with Pan
Tilt Pro to help others.
Using the ActiveHome Pro Installer – You
must go back to the original downloaded
software, not an update. Basically you are
reinstalling your AHP program, most likely
to an older version. I installed the older
version to a separate directory, had it
upgrade the PTP drivers and then use the
Add/Remove software to delete it. Your
working version will still be on your
computer.
Using a separate update installer – Call
tech support and get the updater. Install
PTP, connect the hardware, keep hardware
connected and then run updater. This is
clean simple and effective. I would
recommend this approach and that X10 post
the updater on the site.
You must download remote computer software
from X10's server site. This software may
also require the updater to work. Also,
the remote software crashed IE on exit. I
haven’t resolved this issue, it’s just an
annoyance.
Finally you will need to set up your
firewall to allow the PTP host computer to
access certain ports. The ports that need
to be opened are: 389, 522, 1503, 1720,
1731, 8080, and 8888.
You will not be able to use the remote PTP
software on any computer within your
firewall-protected zone. Since PTP is built
around Microsoft’s Netmeeting, I got around
this by using Netmeeting with the
firecracker and it’s software to control
the ninja mounts on computer within my
firewall.
