Email Alerts?
« on: May 12, 2006, 11:43:47 PM »

Hi there, just purchased the AHP and did so because I was told from the online sales guy that I could set alerts for use with the motion sensors. I wanted home automation. But the main criteria was to have this system email me (to my cell phone from the AHP PC) when someone entered the home and tripped a sensor.

Where do I set that UP?

Thanks
TF

AHP doesn't have email alerts. See excited posts below after I discovered I was wrong.

I believe someone makes a 3rd party software that does. Perhaps someone will post a link here if they know of it.

I have a program that will send a phone call when triggered with a macro in AHP You need a voice modem for this to work.
There are other ways to use the internet to send a call or use msn if your cell is compatible.
Check out X10dispatcher and AlertDialer, links to both can be found in the thirdparty software (addons) section off the AHP forums :)
If you just want to email your self then You need the extra plugins Not sure or if you'll need both the myhouse and smartmacros plugins but you need the smartmacros for sure. the option is located under advanced options.

Wow! I never had scrolled down to see the email option.
Any trick to making it work, however? I just built a quick test and it still hasn't emailed me yet.
Typed my phone email address wrong. It works now.

To the right of the field where you enter the email address you want to use there is a box "...". When I click on it, it pulls up a currently empty address book. How do you add addresses to this address book I didn't even realize I had till now?

This is cool! I can now call from my cell phone to my X10 telephone controller box and have it trigger a macro that tells AHP to send my phone an email. There by verifying AHP is still running on my computer. (It's fun being a geek.)
