I purchased 2 of the protector plus security systems. The first was installed at my fathers house. After 24 hours of use, the senors stated reporting in failures and low battery tilts. Tried several batters, no luck. Withen 48 hours window and door sensors would report back as failed or battery low within hours, and the only way to clear was to reset the whole system, and then have to re initialize every sensor, lots of work. No support from X-10, on hold for 30-40 minutes each time, no resolution. They said it was a bad base unit. So we set up the one in my house, guess what, the same thing happened. The base unit shows slow flashing lights in zones indicating that the window and door sensors could not communticate with the base unit. I was told y bsupport it was my batteries, I tested them on a multi-meter, all OK. Then they said range of signal, cant be, some of the sensors where less than 10 ft away. I even put an extra senor next to the base unit, but within 2 hours, it wouldn't work. Again the only way to clear would be to pull the battery out of the base unit and have to walk around your house and redo all your sensors. If its not relable how can it be secure.
The forum is filled with people that have this problem as I did some searching, but no one seems to know the answer. Customer support was horrible, they refused to let me speak to a level 2 tech, said that was email only? They refused to let me talk to a supervisor, he will have to call you back, not available. Well its been a week, no phone call. We sent everything back, including all of the automation stuff we also purchased. It was a $1500.00 order, and it seemed like they didn't care.
My advice stay away from protector plus....
