The RR501 and the TM751 primarily convert wireless RF signals from X10 Palm Pads, motion detectors, ect. to PLC signals and feed to the powerline for other X10 modules. Each also has an "appliance module" built in. The TM751 appliance module's function responds only to RF commands. The RR501 appliance module function responds to RF commands and PLC commands.

Finally the RR501 is "polite" meaning; before it puts trancieved RF to PLC signals on the powerline, it checks to ensure there is no other X10 traffic before transmitting the PLC signal. The TM751 does not do this check, so can cause X10 collisions if any other X10 device is transmitting at the same time.

The HC50RX is a RR501 in RCA clothes.

You can download user manuals from the X10 website which will give you more information.

TM751 also does not have a powerline receiver in it and you can not turn it on and off by a powerline signal. Only an RF remote signal. Also hard wired to Unit 1 RR501 has choice of 1 or 9.
