Because of the swimming accident, I'm a
quadriplegic with very limited use of my
arms and no use of my hands.  I do however,
communicate quite effectively with my PC
using Dragon NaturallySpeaking.  I have a
model train set in another room of the
house.  Because I am bedridden most of the
time, I would like to be able to view the
model trains in operation for my bed using
my PC.

I do not need to record video or take
snapshot images.  I just want to view the
train operations.

Will iWitness work OK for the limited
functionality I need?  I currently own  X10
cameras with pan and tilt capability.  I
have tried using multi-view and have not
been able to get it  to work correctly.
Will purchasing Active Home Pro and
iWitness solve these  problems or will I
just be tossing away another hundred
bucks?  I thought I should  try these
products instead of just writing off the
four cameras I purchased awhile ago  but
can't get to work with multiview.  This
time at least I am checking this out
through the forum before I purchase?

Can you suggest any other hardware or
software alternatives I should be looking
at if I just want to view but not save
video?

I found Multiview workable but buggy, and was
glad when iWitness was available.  I have
four cameras, two with pan and tilt, which I
use for security.  AHP allows full use of the
cams including switching, multi-screen view,
pan and tilt, recording video or stills.
Mine are set to start recording when
something triggers a motion detector, or I
start them manually.  Using Bill's Voice
Commander (discussed in this forum) I can
verbally start any camera and thereby switch
between cams.  Since Bill is still developing
the program it may soon be able to pan and
tilt as well.  Perhaps he will comment here.
In addition, you may be able to turn your
trains on and off using AHP with an appliance
module, and then watch the cam feeds as you
switch views.
I can't say much about other software you
could use as my experience is limited in that
area - but I'm sure it's out there.  I can
say that I have been pleased with iWitness
functionality and the software is much better
than Multiview.
If X10 is still running the special: AHP with
all the plugins for $49, seems like a good deal.

Bobski: yes  Iwitness will work for what
you'd wish to do. However a firecracker and
xray vision will as well & for less money.
There are also other ways you can set your
system up depending on your setup. Some
video cards have video input which will
alow them to show input to your desktop or
another program possibly windows moviemaker
if your running XP(fullscreen)Simply using
an video resciever pluged into the input
and the use of some software (bxvc) to do
the x10 switching . You can get arround the
iwitness plugin and posibly have a better
display.

Can some one please help me get IWitness to work with my network. I have a Linksys system and can not get the settings right to work. If I drop out the Linksys router and go Right into the ISPs' system thru their modem it works great with what looks like all the settings set right. Once I add back in the Linksys system I can not get it to function on line. an some one please Help Brianag618

Does the Linksys router have a firewall in it? You may need to make sure it's allowing your connection through. Or, do you have it set up to act as a proxy server? Some proxy configurations can prevent iWitness/MyHouse Online from working.

I currently have AHP, MyHouse and Iwitness with two pan and tilt bases and cameras attached. I am able to see the cameras in AHP but have not figured out how to use the pan and tilt that is mention here, in Iwitness. Can someone help me out?
