Trouble getting Active Home Pro unit to work
« on: July 22, 2006, 04:25:54 PM »

Anyone else having probs getting the Active Home USB unit Model CM15A ?
I run XP and I have tried it on 3 computers.
I follow the directions per the manual and all on three machines I get "Unknow USB Device, One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfuntioned and windows does not recognize it".

I love X10 stuff, used it for years at home and work. Does this sound like a bad unit or???

Possibly.

Assuming you have indeed done everything right.  I have observed that my CM15A will not be recognized when plugged into a USB 2.0 port!  If you have an older style USB port on one of your machines, try using that.

Hope that helps.

I had the same problem - when I got AHP I plugged the USB cable into a USB2 port. The CM15A would not be recognized. I switched it to a spare USB1 port (I swapped the CM15A with a device that didn't care what type of USB post it was plugged into) and it has been properly seen by XP.
