Transferring AHP to another PC
« on: August 25, 2006, 04:50:43 PM »

I cannot get a clear video signal from my cameras anywhere around the PC where AHP is installed (in the basement) as the direct line runs laterally through nearly 30 feet of the foundation of my home.

I would like to reinstall the software on another PC on the second floor, I have tested the signal through a TV there and it is much better.

Is there anything I need to do when reinstalling the software - will I be able to register it without a problem?

What user files should I transfer so that I don't lose all my modules and macros?

If you saved the installer stub program(s) you downloaded in response to X-10's email when you purchased AHP and have your registration code, you should be able to install AHP on your other PC and re-register without problems.  (X-10's registration server allows a certain number of re-registrations before it cuts you off.)  Otherwise you'll have to call X-10's customer service line.

The user files with macros and modules for the basic AHP system have an .ahx extension and should be found in folder:
C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataActive Home Professional

otherwise run a Windows search for files with that extension.

(I don't know about other possible user files which might be generated by AHP plug-ins.)

Yesterday it worked.
Today it doesn't work.
X10 on Windows is like that.

Active Home Pro's .ahx files are in C:\Program Files\Active Home Pro. The other files are where you said.

Is it possible to simply download the latest update (3.204) posted here, run it, and enter the registration codes for the main program and plug-ins?

I recently had some computer issues and had to start from scratch.  I copied my main drive to a secondary drive so I wouldn't lose any information, unfortunately the move did not work and all I could find was empty file folders (Thanks Bill Gates).  I had to re-install AHP from scratch and had no issues with registration or the software running properly, I did have to install the update separately though.  I had printed out the e-mail with my registration code and had the AHP install on a cd-rom.  The only downside to this type of setup is that you lose everything.  I am currently adding all my modules, timers, and macros.  The cm-15 worked just fine without AHP and all of my timers and macros worked without issue, until I added the AHP software and it reset all the settings for the cm-15.
