Compact Powerhorns
« on: September 24, 2006, 10:28:12 PM »

Hi I just wanted to say that I would hope that x10 would consider improving the driver on the SP10a. These compact units are just marginal at best I just ordered one of the Pro 2000 security consoles and although I'm sending it back one thing that really impressed me was the built in siren. This thing is shaped just like the SP10a's but the similarity ends there. The driver in the 2000 is extremely loud way loader then the SP10a and has a very unique irritating sound For thirty bucks I would hope that you might consider the the same drivers you use in the 20000. I mean anyone breaking in wouldn't want to hang around long with this thing going and isn't that the idea??

The X10 PH508 Powerhorn doesn't sound like a real siren either. Just a louder version of what you have. Has 4 sounders in it, yours has 1.

Yea but the 508 is loud real loud! it's one of the main reasons when my house was broken into that I think they didn't bother to hang around. I had three in the room with my home entertainment center is and they only got as far as unplugging my receiver had one hidden behind it out of sight. Say Brian have you heard the siren on either the Monitor Plus or the Pro 2000 it only has one driver but man I mean it's loud and very irritating, it's just a suggestion but if they used that driver in their compact units I bet they would sell a lot of them, I know I would buy a couple. Thanks!

Yes I have heard the protector plus and it is loud. Could be the driving circuit for part of the difference. When trying to add the relay output to a 508 I did see a much beefier driver in the 508 over the sc10a. Also a larger power supply voltage in the 508.

Thanks yep that's what I thought. I was just making a suggestion to x10 maybe they're listen. Say Brian could you do me a favor and take a look at my post on Monitor Plus Run 2 Mode and comment on my LAST post I know you probably can help.   As usual Thanks! Brian!

I will look and see what I think on the other question. I have no X10 security consoles or detectors anymore. I still do have a RS unit and sensors.
