Is there a signal amplifier that will extend the range on my motion sensor? I want to trigger my cameras from the beginning of my driveway but that is about 100 feet from my module that turns on and off my time lapse VCR.

The V572AB by WGL & Associates is an excelant receiver that effectively extends the range off most X10 RF devices. It worked great with my MS14 and MS16 motion sensors. I don't know if it works with any of the security  motion sensors as I do not have any of the security equipment.

The V572AB will not do security or camera signals.

If the on/off signals is not making it's way to your vcr commander, the SR731 will help.   Try it at on a desktop closer to the sensor than the vcr (the higher the better).  

I believe the vcr ir thingy has it's own antenna so you don't have much options.

If this is the only setup you have with X10, it should do.   Getting repeated messages can sometime mess up certain security consoles, but in this particular case, the first message never got there so it's ok.

Since your detector is outside anyways(cosmetic thing), you might want to just do a search on "passive repeater" on the forum.  

There's some references on using a cut up coat hanger to help the signal from the detector to the vcr commander better.   You might be able to save yourself a good buck or two.

The W800 by WGL & Associates (think thats the number) does all the X10 codes but doesn't work with AHP software from what I have been told.

The WGL W800RF32 does receve all of the X10 codes even security ones; but outputs the data in a RAW Serial string. That has to be decoded and processed.

The V572AB will not do security or camera signals.

The W800 picks up RF and sends it to a computer : X10 & Security
The V752 picks up RF and sends it on the powerline : X10 only.

What module do you have controlling your time lapse vcr?   And what do you want to do with the cameras?  Just turn them on?   Camera On / Off uses standard X10, controllable on the tranformer.

I used  an RR501 for a similar problem with regular X10 signals in the area of my garage.  A TM751 would probably work also.  Since I'm not triggering a VCR you might want to check if that's a special case.

WOW! Lots of tech stuff here in your responses. I was going to use the commando to turn on and off my VCR but realized I would be better off simply setting the VCR on (REC LOCK), and then having the motion sensor trigger a transceiver module. The VCR will not have to be on for a month straight if I do not get to the house. I have 4 cameras going to a quad splitter and then to a Samsung time lapse VCR. I have it set to record up to 42 days. I rather have it turn on if it is triggered by a motion sensor. 42 days is a lot of tape to review if I think someone has messed with my property. I was burglarized a year ago and want to catch my neighbor In the act. LOL! (It’s always the neighbors!) 9 out of 10 times.
