Camera and Ninja Base stoped working
« on: January 03, 2007, 11:03:43 AM »

My camera and base just died on me, I can't get any image from the camera (compuer or tv), and can't pan/tilt the ninja base, both are connected, set to the correct code "C1", but since last week both stoped working, any suggestions on what should I try/do?

Thanks in advance for all your pointers

I would start by checking the output of the power supply with a meter to verify that it is still working. I believe that if you unplug it and plug it back in it will automatically turn on so you can eliminate the need to manually turn it on. You may want to also check the outlet and make sure it still has power. If you have power from the power supply let us know and we will dig into the problem a little more.
Good luck

My camera and base just died on me...

In addition to JimC's suggestions:

Unless you had a serious power spike, it's very unlikely they both died at once. Look for something that is common between the two.

What are you using to turn ON the camera and to control the Ninja?

I'm pretty sure the outlet has power, but will check this afternoon when I get home.

I'm using the remote that came with the cameras and AHP with the same result. I will try to connect just the camera with out the base, and tell you about it tomorrow

Thanks again for your replies.

lingtrin,

You may want to first try unplugging the power supply for the Ninja from the wall outlet and plugging it back in and see if you then have a picture. If you do then the problem is with the signal getting to the camera and base which could be caused by noise or phase coupling.

I tried not unplugging from the wall, but from the cable where the two cables connect them back after a day and same thing, no picture, could it be that my wireless router is causing interference?

But give it a while(give it time to cool down) ::) I found one of my ninja walwarts to have this problem(overheating) yes even outside ::) I solved this by making sure I sent a off command to that unit when done as well as made a dummy cam to switch to to be sure all others were off! So far is has worked no more lock ups with the ninja! ;)

Great will try disconnecting from the wall, and let you know about the outcome.

Well, here's the result of all your sugestions, when I got home I disconected from the outlet the base/camera, let it sit for a while, then plugit in again, and now is working just like it did before. Thanks everyone for your sugestions.

Also created a macro to turn off the camera.

Thanks again to all, and happy new year!

Great, glad to hear that it is now working again. Sounds like Tuicemen's advice was right on. :)
