I am just starting to set up my house with the automation, security and computer software etc...
I'm running into a few problems and wondering what direction I should take.
The previous (though less than friendly) posts are correct. As much fun as X10 is for you now, it will be better when your system can be made completely reliable. I can plug any module in any plug in my house and know it will work.
Unfortunately, X10 isn't always an "out-of-box" experience. I am sure X10 mentions that on there Web Site advertisements, in small print
(that is the same color as the background). Getting a lamp or camera to work with X10 can be a simple task. But as you expand your system, it becomes a little trickier.
Fortunately, many knowledgeable X10 users have posted great (and
HELPFUL)
information here on the forum. Instead of
RE-typing the same information everytime a new member asks the same question(s), many [of them] would prefer members used the search feature.
P.S. I corrected my "phase problem" by using the passive phase coupler which connects between my 220 volt electric clothes dryer plug, and dryer cord. [I purchased it at smarthome.com]
