installing software on a new computor, old one died
« on: August 05, 2008, 04:56:21 PM »

Hi
Recently my 7 year old desktop decided it was time to go, the hard drive crashed with all my software, including my activehome pro.
i have replaced the computor and have replacement software.
my settings in the wall unit (CM11A?) are still functioning, is there a way i can retrieve the settings from the unit?
second, i dont use cameras will the software function on a Vista machine?

Active Home Pro is for the USB CM15A.
The CM11A is the older Serial Port unit used Active Home Software.
If it is the older Active Home with the CM11A I believe users have reported Vista was not happy.
AHP and the CM15A; users report that unless the VA11 video interface is used Vista will run it.

There are some serial problems using the CM11A even on some computers with Windows XP.

While there is a software patch that was distributed on an as needed basis that will let you download from the CM15A, you cannot recover an axh file that AHP can use.
i.e. No descriptive data is stored in the CM15A that is part of the ahx file you need.

Sorry but if you don't have a backup, you'll have to write this one up as a learning experience. For future reference, the ahx file is small enough to fit on a flash drive.

The name.ahx file is the file that AHP saves on your computer. Only the basic parts that are needed of that are stored in the CM15A.

my cm15A seems to be having fits, i cant seem to change existing timers, the don't take effect, put new ones in and the work normally for a while and then start going on and off at random times, is this an indication the  device is dying
