MichaelC the ratings thingy continues to be debated, true it looks as if it is here to stay though!
Perhaps someone could write a plug-in that would make it more useful for this forum.
Until then I'm as puzzled as you as to how it helps the forum!

I venture to suggest that most of us here agree. The occasional spam I've seen here is almost always from guests.

BTW... Guests: You can register and keep your email address hidden. Why not join us?

Guests are just that GUESTS.
They are NOT members and should NOT be able to post.

Unless the settings have changed since I left, Guests are allowed to post in the General Category boards. The default settings for this message system doesn't allow posting by Guests in any category, but X10 made the decision (also over my recommendation) to allow Guest posting in the areas specified. A posting might also appear as coming from a guest if the poster deletes their account after posting.

The fact that a user who leaves then shows as a Guest may explain some of them.

The settings were changed to not allow guests to post and it was working properly(briefly). Then X10 changed a server and some things got screwed in the transformation. X10javier was in the midst of debugging when he left X10. Now we're waiting for a new administer hopefully one that can finish what x10javier started!
There still strange characters appearing in places they weren't before, as well as the guest thingy!
