using activehome and a timer to visit a website

anyone know how i can use activehome to open a browser and visit a website by a timer. i know it can run a program but dont know how to have it visit a website.

Active Home (the CM11A interface's software) had no internet capability. That came along as an add-in called MyHouse to Active Home Professional (usually referred to as Active Home Pro or AHP). 

If you are still using Active Home/CM11A, you are out of luck.

After reviewing some of your other posts on this forum, I have put together that you have AHP and SmartMacros on Win XP.

If you know how to create macros that run programs and trigger them from timers, then the only missing piece of information in your puzzle is this:

After dropping the "Advanced Functions" "Windows Command" control into the macro, instead of browsing for a program to run, just type the full web site address into the command box.  i.e. http://www.wgjohns.com/bvc.htm (shamless plug  ).

Also, remember that having AHP run a program (or in this case open a web-browser window), not only requires that the PC be on, but that AHP is actively running.  If AHP is closed at the time the macro should fire, nothing will happen.

Please let us all know if that helps, or if maybe you need more details.

Any reason and any page you want!

Perhaps you want to press a button on a X10 remote whenever you want to view current weather conditions or simply open your web browser to your current home page.

Maybe have the browser open up and display a local HTML page from your computer that shows a graphic of your house with the appropriate area highlighted when motion is detected.

It all depends on how imaginative you get!
