It has often been reported that cellphone chargers can cause a problem for X10 communication.  I just did some testing on one such device.  More information here:

Thanks for the information Jeff. My friend had a cell phone charger that also killed X10 signals. Cheap switching suppies again.  ::)

I had read so much (bad) about the cell phone chargers that I purchased a DC charger to use in my truck.

Now I charge my phone during my drive into work.

Thanks for all the information and effort you put into alerting us to the charger hassle.

Its not even just cell phone chargers anymore. Seems many of the wall warts; we now see; are switching types; not the old small transformer and parts to convert to DC.

Yeah I know. And the noise also plays havoc with (higher-end) audio/video equipment. Electric conditioner's are now sold at the big-box stores.... it's not like the old days anymore. But then again... I am not certain the old days... were really much like they are remembered to be. For me life has always been full of change. New problems... new solutions.

The nice thing to remember is: voltage and amps.... are voltage and amps (there is no special brand). Radio shack is just down the road from almost everyone... and they have transformer units that can replace the offending ones. Extra hassle, extra expense, but (IMHO) well worth it for the pleasure and convenience of good home automation.

Most of the time now I charge my phone from a USB cable connecting it to my computer.
In a pinch, I even have an adapter that lets me charge it with an AA battery.
BVC let's me tell my camera where to go!
