Recording to Computer

When I have a motion detector turn on my camera I would like it to record a still or short video to my hard drive. Can this be done or do I have to go thru the VCR?

You can record directly to your computer.  You don't have to go through a VCR.  Do a search on "camera recording."  It will give you a wealth of information if you need more help in setting up your PC recording.
