Check out this link to see a new approach to automatic garage door control.  I came accross it by accident.

Thanks Oldtimer,

I installed a "homelink" receiver (rolling code) that responds to the built in transmitter in my Wife's van (2003 Olds - the good car).  The rub is, no matter how I re-arrange things, she has to put the bumper of the van on the garage door in order to activate things (most likely a transmitter issue in the van).  Bottom line - low WAF.

I'm a bit leery about making "quick connection" under the hood (nasty environment in our area) but, from what I can see, any "double ON" 12v signal should suffice (I.E. brake lights, interior lights, or other).  I may give this a try on my '70 Olds first to verify the function/distance.

Thanks again - high WAF is a great thing,
Boiler
