« on: March 22, 2008, 06:30:31 PM »

Say why is there no mention of the listen in feature on the ds7000 console does the system still support this feature or did they drop it in an effort to cut cost again.  :-\ sure don't see it in the manual. Thanks Guys

My recently purchased one has it. I tried it out.... I left a TV on for sound.... but all I could hear was the sirens.

Actually there is a mention of that option in the manual!
Page 15
under "Storing A Voice Message"
Quote
3. Speak clearly into the microphone on the front of the console. You can record up to 15
seconds of speech. For example: “There is a burglary in progress at (address). Press
0 to listen-in.
Mind you this info should be present in the manual elsewhere too! ;)
Pressing 0 will silence the alarm so you can listen in!

.................  Pressing 0 will silence the alarm so you can listen in!

I think pressing 0 shuts off the consoles alarm (only) AND allows you to listen in. In my case... I may have gone over-board with the large powerhorns.

Very true Dave,  I never used external powerhorns but I would expect it doesn't silence them! ;)

Haven't had a chance to check this out yet but if you pressed 0 to listen in and the crocks were there, well without the siren they could go on with their business, that to me doesn't make much since. Seems like a real old unit I had would let you listen in with the alarm still going and then if you didn't hear anything threatening you could cut it off, but like I said I'll have to check maybe they changed it.

You don't have to silence the alarm I believe you can still listen in but since the alarm is right next to the speaker the crooks would have to be awful loud for you to here them!
Also once you hang up the alarm restarts and runs the cycle, at least mine does! ;)
