just received IR34a remote and was super excited first every battery I put in told me I had low batteries. But I was able to use remote. Then I went and bought new Lithium Ion batteries and everytime I program it gets stuck in the Saving settings screen and will not come out.

Sounds like it is bad, but you might try standard alkaline batteries before calling X10.
