I have 2 macros, one to turn all the lights on; one to turn all the lights off.  For some reason, I am having trouble with 1 lamp (B3).  I have tried a different lamp module and an appliance module.  When I trigger the on macro, the light comes on.  When I trigger the off macro, the light does not turn off and AHP shows that the light is on.  How do I fix this?

How are you triggering the macro? Does your activity monitor show the trigger being received?

Does the macro work when you click on it directly?

Do you have any conditions in the macro that are not true?

In the "off" macro, try putting a short delay before the  B3 'off' command.  That would help to make sure that there isn't some PLC traffic still occurring due to the command just before the B3 'off' command.

If that doesn't help, and probably wouldn't as its a long shot, I think we need a LOT more details.

IMHO, the key here, is that even AHP believes B3 is still 'on' after the "off" macro is executed.  So, it is not a PLC communication problem.  Plus, if the other modules all turn 'off' then the "off" macro appears to be executing.

After reading Walt2's reply, it caught my attention that the off macro has more than just the one (B3) light and the others all work correctly. 

So, one thing to try which I found made my system more reliable is:

If you have multiple same House Code commands, like B1 OFF, B2 OFF, B3 OFF, etc. place a zero second delay between them. When you don't AHP sends out all the addresses first then the command; with the delay it send each address and command separate.

If that doesn't work, then verify the activity monitor is actually showing that B3 is being sent an OFF command.

If you change from a lamp module to an appliance module, be sure to change the definition in AHP - this is more of an issue for turning on then turning off (ON may be sent as Bright 100% which an appliance module or socketrocket would not respond to.)

Look at the activity in the activity monitor.  My guess is that the command is being sent (but you should confirm this) but not being received.  I have seen examples where transmission to a particular module is a bit flaky and it can receive on commands but not off.  Try moving the same module to a different location for testing purposes.  This may also be a phase issue (your house has two electrical phases - from splitting on 240 VAC line into two 120 VAC lines).  Sometimes signals have a bit of trouble getting across the phases.  If you move the module to another location (ideally one where another module is working properly) and it starts receiving signals properly then a phase coupler may help.

What do you have attached to the module?  If it is a lamp, does it have a standard incandescent bulb?

Don't get too disgruntled - while X10 can be frustrating, almost everyone can get it to work with a bit of futzing...

One  more troubleshooting suggestion: Try turning the module on and off "manually" from the AHP software.  This will tell you if the CM15a is able to communicate with the module.  Let us know how it turns out!
