Irrmaster Pro problems
« on: August 02, 2008, 02:53:57 PM »

I have been using an IRRMaster Pro (IRMP) for many years and am now having an intermittent problem controlling it using my x10 devices.  It will work for a few days or a week turning on and off sprinkler zones and then for no reason it stops working.  I can control each of the sprinkler zones using the radio buttons on the face of the IRMP, but I can't control any of the zones using either a plug-in control box, wireless controller or the ActiveHome software on my PC.  I can see that Powerline Interface is responding to the commands as the LED indicator light blinks when an x10 command is sent.  Just in case, I replaced the Powerline Interface and cable to the IRMP.  The only thing left to replace is the IRMP.  Again, it is an intermittent problem that comes and goes with no apparent rhyme or reason.
Any ideas?

What software are you using to control it?

It's not sold by X10USA so none of the X10 software available now will control it.

When the IRRMaster does NOT work, are you sure the LED on the PowerLine interface is blinking? An interminent problem like that sounds like noise on the powerline.
Search the forum for Noise.  Also when the problem first began, what did you buy new that plugs in the wall?

Yes, the LED blinks when an x10 signal is sent.
As I continue to look for solutions, just the other day I had the sprinkler controller working with both wireless and wired x10 controllers.  I had hoped that the Activehome software which drives my CM11A ActiveHome computer interface would work overnight and control the zones according to my timed schedule.  By the next morning however, the scheduled events did not occur and none of the zones on the sprinkler controller would respond to x10 commands from either a wired or wireless controller.  Again, the IRRMaster Pro will turn on and off the zones using the radio buttons on the face of the device.
Unless the problem lies with the IRRMaster, I think its time to start unplugging everything in the house until I find a source of possible noise.  Is there an easier way to find the source of the noise?
Thanks.

According to their website, Irrmaster Pro is X10 compatible.  Can you set it to an X10 housecode? If you can, you should be able to configure it as an appliance module in Active Home and address it.

BTW what O/S are you running?
