Autom8 Voice Comands
« on: October 25, 2008, 03:12:28 PM »

A few years ago I stumbled across some software I beleive it was called autom8 that controlled x-10 stuff with voice comands. I cant seem to find it now and it was pretty slick.
Has anybody heard of this and know what happened to them?

Seems to me.... I read something about something like that years ago too......

But now-a-days  BVC (Bill's Voice Commander) is the software of choice to Voice Control an X10 setup (IMHO). Bill- (of wgjohns.com) is an X10 forum member (actually an administrator), a regular contributor.... and the creator of BVC.

BVC even has it's own thread here at the forum. Bill just released version 0.2.0.4

I've been Voice Commanding my X10 setup for a couple years now! And to be honest... I really think I might be BVC's biggest fan. I even have a BVC Fan Site There you will find links for info on how to setup a cheap baby-monitor microphone and computer-speaker setup... or how to use a two-way intercom setup (the new way to go). You will also be able to view one of my BVC YouTube Videos right from my Fan Site. BVC can really do MUCH MORE than just command lights on and off (like that wouldn't be enough). You really need to read up on it just to get an idea of what all it can do.

Check out the links above.... plenty of reading material there. Bill has a free trial of BVC at his Web Site. And there are tons of support... here at the X10 forum (lots of BVC users)... at Bills forum or even live chat.. most week-nights at KDR's Home Automation Chat.

NO.

That's for Active Home and the CM11a interface.

Dan Lawrence is correct.... BVC requires AHP (Active Home Pro) with the CM15A, and a PC with an XP or Vista OS running 24/7. The old AH (with the CM11A) won't work.

Ok Thanks guys.

Well.... that sucks. Your really too kind! I go on and on about all the really cool things that can be done with BVC... then we realize you have the old AH. At least the new upgrade is only $50... and well worth it.

Actually there are lots of voice command software options for X10 doing a google search for x10 voice commands will turn up pages of links!
Some of these do work with the CM11A although the OS platform your running may be the biggest hurtle! :'  :(
