tom j,

Thanks for the information.

When I get some time I will try your tape idea and if that doesn't work I may try the modification.

Glad I could help! Yeah just experiment with different withs at different heights the goal is to get it so that it will give you maybe a foot or so  off the ground so that all those small little critters won't disturb you all the time the only other thing that I dislike about these little motion detectors and I really just love motion detectors (I'm convinced without them my new car would have been tampered with even with the auto alarm) that sunlight always trips these things the link I provided is suppose to correct this but I never got around to trying it so I just basically have mine setup for night time use only. If they would work in daylight with the modification I mentioned they would be perfect!!

I used 18" coat hanger and taped is on the back of the motion sensor, then I mounted it.

The transformer idea (3 volt) is a great idea. thanks

Looked for the comment on the coat hanger, did not see it, are you saying you merely taped a coat hanger wire on the back of the motion detector and that increased your range, can you be a little more specific, just sounded too simpel to me.  Tks

The antenna is on the back side of the motion sensor. When you tape a piece of wire to the back. The RF is coupled through the sensors plastic back and resent. This maybe directional as it may steer the signals in one direction.

Thanks Brian, will give it a try

FWIW

to elaborate a bit on Brians placement directions.

Looking at the front of the xxxxEye motion sensor, the internal antenna is near the top left side of the motion sensor. I got my best results by hot glueing a thin (24-26ga) 18" wire to the left side of the sensor.
