Now that's a lamp controller!
« on: January 27, 2009, 06:50:08 PM »

My home throne is the right hand side of a reclining love seat.
I am all kicked back with the NFL network on, a cozy blanket and an old Compaq laptop whose battery isn't what it used to be.

I have an extension cord plugged into the wall socked behind the love seat that I plug the laptop into and it is on a standard toggle wall switch that is oh so just out of my reach to the right of me on the wall. The wall switch allows me to shut off the power to the transformer for peace of mind when not using the pc.

More often than not I am sitting down writing drivel such as this and I look down and see I'm on feeble battery. However, not to worry. While I know I could put the extension cord on an appliance controller, it is so much easier to grab the small lamp on the table to my right and with the shade and a deft and manly flick, I turn on the toggle switch with the lamp shade.

And now I can type on and on.
Now that is a lamp controller baby!

And I have just wasted your time.  rofl

Ron,
That kind of reminds me of a user here having a BVC listener set up to play a wav file of clapping to control his clapper when A1 was pressed.  rofl

No... I would actually give a Voice Command to BVC (the command was clapper ON)... then the listener would play the clapclap.wav file... and then the clapper, hearing the clap, clap would turn on the lamp.

I have WAY too much free time.
