Hi Guys,

I purchased a Ninja VK74A pan & tilt camera system with a XCam2 wireless camera. Also purchased the VR36A video receiver, and a VA12A USB capture adapter (I ordered the VA11A... X10 sent the VA12A).

Hooked everything. I can control the Ninja Pan & Tilt from AHP (computer running Vista and AHP 3.228).
I then connected the VR36A to my TV, and I can see video from my camera (so, the camera and VR36A obviously work).

Finally, the final step was to install the VA12A in my computer... did that... Vista recognized and installed it... no issues... just in case, I checked for "exclamation marks" in Vista's Device Manager... all good there)...

Then, I connected the video cable from the VR36A to the VA12A, and installed the XC18A module in AHP.

And the issue is : I can only see horizontal noise lines... I don't get the video.

Again, I only have 1 camera, and I know the camera & video receiver work... and there seems to be no issues with Vista installing the VA12A...
But I have no video...

Thoughts ?

Thanks !!!

Thats what users said about the Va11A in XP! ::) :'
Check the system device manager to make sure vista actualy installed the correct driver for the device!
You May have to download the device drivers From X10 and reinstall or manualy tell vista where they are!

Hi Tuicemen,
Thanks for your reply

I uninstalled the device, then downloaded the drivers from X10 (strange... it was an exe file that installed a bunch of drivers, including VA12A)... and installed the device again...
Still the same outcome... noisy horiozntal lines...

Other thoughts ?

Tuicemen, you will not believe this...

I have a spare laptop, running XP SP3 (not Vista).  Never installed anything related to X10 on that machine...

So, I downloaded the file with the X10 drivers for the VA12A  (from here : http://www.x10.com/support/support_soft1.htm  ,  the file named x10drivers.exe), and installed in this laptop. Plugged the VA12A, the camera & the VR36A video receiver, and used the "audio & video setup option from Live Messenger, and voila!, I have video...

So, this means that the VA12A does work...  but for some reason, the driver is not working with vista and my main computer (where all the X10 stuff is installed)...

Thoughts on a workaround ?

Thanks !

I've found my VA12A:

1. Requires USB 2.0 (My XP Laptop is 1.0)
2. On XP, it works with 3.228.   (I'm running Vista and Win7 dual-boot on main PC)
3. On Vista (and Win7) it requires 3.236. (236 is so buggy, I don't run it)

Therefor, my VA12A is sitting in a box.
