Universal Remote UR74A Problems

I tried to change the house code on my UR74A today and now the X10 funtion on the remote is completely screwed up.  All of the modes TV VCR CBL and SAT work fine, but X10 doesn't.  I tried reprogramming the X10 button to the 999 code, but it just flashes after entering the last 9 indicating that the code isn't valid.  I tried doing the resets listed in the manual with still no avail.  I know the RF function still works because when I try to do the search for codes feature with the X10 mode it will randomly turn on a light or dim a light, but never saves the functionality. 

Any suggestions?  I read that someone else entered 0999 or 0998 but they don't work for mine.
