AHP timer problems
« on: February 20, 2009, 11:41:40 AM »

Hello. this is my first post. I just joined the forum. I have used and loved X10 toys for years. I had the old Active Home and now have the AHP.

My problem is I cannot get timers to work. I have the correct addresses for my modules and I can manually control the modules from AHP using my computer. I set timers and verify that I have the proper times set but then nothing happens at the appointed time.

I would appreciate any ideas for a solution.

Thank you.

In one of the older AHP versions there was an issue with timers this may have been reintroduced with the latest update.
Version 3.236 is a very Bad version for many!
Have you uploaded the timers to the CM15A?
If you have 3.236 download version http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehome/ahp_updt_204.exe3.204 install and let it update to 3.228(it won't see 3.236)
If you have used an old setup file from the VA11A and imported it to AHP this also may be your problem. Many imports don't go well and the user must redo their setup manually. :(

Thank you for the suggestions. I followed your guidance, installed 3.204 and upgraded to 3.228. Yes, I uploaded the timers to the CM15A and I am not using the old setup file from VA11A.

Unfortunately, my timers still do not work. I have not tried uninstalling AHP and reinstalling. Maybe that would do it. Would there be a convenient way to reinstall it? Thanks. I really like flexibility of using timers with all their additional features.

Are we talking about timers or macros?
Many confuse the two.
Sometimes a AHX.file gets corrupt on installs or updates! :(
Try starting a new setup call it "MyNewHome" or something diferent then the defalt AHX.
Make sure the AHP recycle bin is free of deleted modules, timers, & macros before you update the CM15A.

One possible timer problem is with the new "Soft start" WS467 Wall Switches.  An AHP timer for a dimmer module like the WS467 turns on the module with a sequence of Brighten signals, but these new Soft start WS467 switches require an ON signal to be turned on if they're off to start with - Brighten signals won't do it.

Yesterday it worked.
Today it doesn't work.
X10 on Windows is like that.

Sometime ago I upgraded to version 3.228 (with the On Alert plug-in). I haven't used On Alert or tried to set it up.
I decided to set up some "timers" to turn on a few lights while out of town - I had been doing this with different AHP versions with no problem in the past. Anyway I set the Timers up (a day earlier) and found they "didn't turn on" some of the targeted lights like they were supposed to. On closer inspection of the "Events Report" I noticed the the Timer Events executed but the commands were different from previous AHP versions. The commands in 3.228 were "Extended Code" (i.e. E2 Extended Code 3 3b (Fran's Lamp)). The problem seemed that CM15A range was the issue on some of the devices/lamps that were turned on via the timers.

I went back to 3.204 and the timer commands executed just fine on the same devices/lamps - they turned on as directed. Indirectly this symptom has something to do with the coding of the On Alert Plug-In/ AHP 3.228. Some of the Timers work in 3.228 -it appears it's a matter where the devices reside in the house in proximity to the CM15A.

My concern is what X10 is going to do with the next versions of AHP. We have no access to the X10 application programs or any way of debugging (which is fine with me <g>.) I'll probably go back to 3.204 as long as I'm not going to use On Alert.

Sorry if this doesn't belong in this thread.
