Does anyone know of a workaround to have AHP running with Windows Media Center???

Apparently you can not have the video receiver and/or the iWatchOut software running with WMC.

Thanks!

This issue isn't a X10 problem but a issue with programs sharing the same USB device (A Windows thingy)!
Which ever program opens first gets control of the device!
The way around this is to have another capture device either USB or a card.
Split the video feed from your  cam/video receiver using a Y adaptor so each capture device gets the same signal.
Note: You can find cheep USB video capture devices for as low as $12  ;)

Thank you Tuiceman.

I have a separate internal capture card for WMC feed by an antenna coaxial cable and the X10 video going in through the USB port.

In the past I have successfully run WMC using the capture card and another vendor's USB capture stick together.  They seemed like they got along pretty well.

Given this, would your solution still work??  I don't completely understand what you are suggesting.

I use two different capture devices displaying the same image on my system using this method.
The easyest way to explain is a diagram (see attached crude drawing)
Each time you switch cams the pic will change in both programs to the correct cameras image!

It looks like you are splitting your stream from your cameras, yes?

If that is correct, does doing that enable you to run Window Media Center to record TV programs at the same time you are recording your stream from the cameras?

If your TV card has multiple inputs and you can switch between inputs on the TV card then Yes

Or you stated:

So use that setup for WMC and the X10 USB capture for AHP

Hi Tuiceman,

Forgive me if I am a little slow here.

Are saying to use your solution if I want to see the cameras within WMC as well as AHP?

I think the OP's problem is that the AHP software is preventing WMC from working at all.  Not sure if he even wants them to run in tandem, just independently.
Remote control is cool,
but automation rules!

Tuicemen,

Knightrider is correct.  I don't want to look at, record or do anything with AHP's cameras within WMC.  I just want them to play together nicely.  Both be able to do their OWN job INDEPENTLY from each other at the same time.  Currently I have to choose, X10 cameras or WMC.

If I plug in the VA12a, WMC goes bonkers...not able to record, watch live TV, etc.  X10 tells me that they are not compatible but no fix date or work around other than buying another computer to run AHP on.  Not a great solution!

Anyone have a fix?   -:)

Thanks,

JJ
