Failed CM15A?
« on: May 18, 2009, 12:48:55 AM »

Hi.  I have a CM15A with AHP that I've been using for about 2 years.  The other day, it stopped responding to my palm-pads, and when I went to check it out, it was hot to the touch!  I have since restored its functionality (remove batteries, replace), but it still gets hot when plugged in.  The input transformer draws about 6W, and the output side is running about .1W, so I'm burning about 5.9W in the input transformer (which is the component producing all the heat).
Three questions:
1) Has anyone had this happen before?
2) Does this sound unsafe to anyone?  The label says 6W on it, but this thing is hot to the touch!
3) Is it possible to order a replacement CM15A without buying the software again?

2) Sounds like someting is failing. Maybe time to think of a replacement.
You sound like you have some technical expertise. The Schematics of the CM15A are available on the FCC web site where you search for the Acceptance Number.
B4S is the Grantee and CM15A is the product code if my memory is correct.
I have the FCC link home and can post it if you need it.

3) I have never seen the CM15A alone as a replacement and I doubt the cost would be less as X10 ads say Free software package included.
