AHP/TM751/AM466 Problem

Since I bought AHP it never really worked.
I am able to turn on and off TM751 modules with no problem however any other module I have will not be turned on nor off via AHP.
I shall add that any and all modules work flawlessly via the remote controls (both HR12A and SS13A), just not via the PC with AHP.

I use Windows Vista, however I tried it even on XP Pro with the same results. The only thing that is solved in XP Pro is that dialog boxes do not appear as thin lines on screen as they do on my Vista (in Vista I have to then right-click the taskbar icon of the dialog and select Maximize to be able to see it).

I read through the forums and did the procedure suggested to install v3.204 first and then do an update from within AHP to 3.228. I get no errors on installation and run of the software, it just does not seem to command the switches. I even avoided installing any plug-in, just in case.

To test I plugged in the CM15A, TM751 and AM466 all in the same outlet, to avoid issues with phase and noise, but nothing seemed to helps.

Here is the log of a command list:

Events Report : 06/22/2009 17:06:16.050
Event Date/Time Action Data
0 6/22/2009 5:05:46 PM Transmit RF B1 On

5 6/22/2009 5:06:04 PM Transmit B Off (New AM466)

Any clues?

Sounds to me you have a serious noise problem.  The PC itself is a noise producer. X10 sells plug-in noise filters, every PC in the house should have one.
I don't SELL this stuff... BUT I sure do ENJOY using it!!!

Could be that the tm751 is stepping on the cm15.  Try unplugging the tm751 and just try the cm15 to transmit.  The tm751 is not polite and will sometimes cancel out the cm15 or vise versa.

Dan is also right though. You could have a lot of noise on the powerline.  Try your test again with all the items in one outlet but leave the tm751 out of the picture and see what happens.  Then report back and we can go from there.

This could also be a phase coupling problem if the TM751 and the CM15A are on separate phases. Try temporarily moving the CM15A to same outlet as TM751 and see if macros begin executing.

I unplugged the TM751 and plugged the AM466 and CM15A in the same outlet.
Turning ON and OFF the AM466 via AHP will produce no action on the switch at all.
I also tried activating other switches in the house (just in case): Same thing, no action on the switches.

Almost sounds like you have a bad cm15.   :(

That is exactly what I thought, but repeated emails to X10 on this problem lead nowhere. They just say it is an issue with the installation or such.

To confirm the CM15A problem, plug the TM751 in to CM15A's outlet and control something. If you can, call X10 and if they give you grief, ask to speak to rep's supervisor.

You will probably have to call them so they can give you a RMA number.  Exactly what Dave said.  He beat me to it.   :)%

Plugging a TM751 into the same outlet works fine via the remotes.

What is the warranty on the CM15A?
I bought it back in Sept '08 but never had the chance to test it until now.

I just noticed the return policy indicates 7 days from receipt of order. So I guess I am out of luck.

You should try and call them, asking to exchange it. Politeness might get an exchange if you explain that you shelved it for 9 months. If rep says no, ask for supervisor and see if you can negotiate a compromise such as offering to pay shipping. Shipping is a "hard" cost (no write off) for vendors and I have had luck at getting the sympathy deal, just by offering to pay some "token" amount.  At this point you have little to lose.

I believe if you don't add the extended warranty. It should be one year form purchase date. Even if sitting for nine months. You should still have some time left.
