Don, have you tried this.
Go to device manager and find the VA12A. Right click and select Uninstall device and also check delete driver software for this device.
Restart your system.
When the computer restarts it should try to install drivers for the VA12A. If it asks to search online, do this.
I just tried this process and Windows update actually picked up and installed the driver properly and it's again working fine.

Just out of curiosity, assuming, this being posted in the iWatchOut section, you're using AHP to try and view your cams, what version of AHP are you currently running? The VA12A will not work with any version below 3.236.

J.B.  Wow I hadn't heard that about a specific version being required for the VA12A to work properly.  I am running AHP version 3.228.

Dr.Fiero what version you are running?

Now having said all of that, I don't even have AHP running when I try to load the drivers.  So at that time it's version independent.  Now maybe it won't work under version 3.228 once the drivers are loaded.  That I don't know.  But I can't get far enough to test AHP because the drivers never get loaded.

J.B.  I haven't tried your previous suggestion.  We are leaving today and won't be home for about a week.  I'll try your suggestion when we get back home.  Thanks.

3.271

Earlier versions failed.  So I put up with the 'bugs' of the current one.

My cameras now work.  And I must say the VA12A is an improvement (picture quality) over the VA11A.

Like most things that finally work after messing with it for some time, I'm not sure I know what the final solution was.  I think it was a combination of several things.  First I saved my .ahx files from my Windows 7 PC.  Then I unistalled AHP version 3.228 and deleted all remaining AHP files that resided in directories C:\Program Files (x86)\ActiveHome Pro, C:\Program Files (x86)\X10 Hardware and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\X10.

Once that was completed I downloaded, from the X10 Software Download Center (http://www.x10.com/support/support_soft1.htm), ActiveHome Pro version 3.271, all Plug-Ins and X10 USB Video Drivers.  Installed all software.  Registered all Plug-Ins.  Cleared and downloaded everything into my CM15A.  Rebooted my PC.  Then everything worked fine.    >!

My cameras now work..............I'm not sure I know what the final solution was.  I think it was a combination of several things.............................I downloaded ActiveHome Pro version 3.271

You said in earlier post ur 3.228 was not important since you were not using it so driver had no meaning.  u also said u think ur other software never seemed to load the drivers.

so what driver was on ur system to be used by the va12?  [he one from ahp 3.228 that is known not to work with win7 & va12][/i]

as soon as I saw ur post about using 3.228 and not getting any other drivers installed on ur system, i was going to write:  update to 3.296 anyway to get the right driver.  just as an aside, I do believe a device driver is PROGRAM INDEPENDENT, not the other way around as u assumed.  so whatever driver u have installed for a device will be used for any program wanting to use that device.  hence ur problem until you updated driver to one >3.228.
