New to X10 andhave some questions
« on: November 03, 2009, 01:27:27 PM »

I am fairly new to X10 and bought the 99.99 deal and was working with AHP and the CM15A and had 4 modules and 2 socket rockets set up with no problems.   Well as the days went on my X10 stopped working and I could not figure out why and almost quit on it..lol

I went into the PC room where the PC and the CM15A were connected and swapped the CM15A around and could not figure out why it would not work in the same room as t he PC.  I then moved the CM15A out of the PC room and voila it now works again.   I then put it back in the PC room and it stopped working again.  I went to sleep and remembered reading jeffvoips writeup and figured let me unplug everything in tat room except the PC and the cm15A.  Well it worked again so I slowly luggedthings back in and found the XBOX360 power brick was my problem.   I unplugged it and my X1 is working again for a week.  Yesterday I  received my order of my Q-see 16 CH camera system and proceeded to install it and BAM the power adapters from it cause my X10 to stop working again.

What do I need to stop this from happening.  I need to put the DVR in that room.

Thnaks In Advance,
Luis

X10 Power Line filters maybe needed on the offending power supplies. If more than one wall supply is in the same outlet. You maybe able to use one filter.
I am surprised the PCs power supply didn't also degrade the X10 power line signals from the CM15A.

It sounds like Jeff is advertising in our dreams (I also dream of X10). Fess up Volp! Is that true?

luisc202 Welcome to the forum! You sound (read) like a real X10er to me.

P.S. Of course Brian H is correct.

Some surge protectors do a good enough job of filtering noise (and not blocking X10 signals), but that is trial-and-error.
