1958 House with two wire elect
« on: October 28, 2009, 12:04:26 AM »

OK we have a house that was built in 1958 and has two wire electric system white and black wires no ground wire. Will X10 work? We have the old Round fluorescent lights in the kitchen and the work shop dual 4' fluorescent lights in the basement. Can I use x10 in my house OK? Is their any book you would recommend?

My house was built in the 1940's I even mmention that in my early X10 Youtube Video. X10 will work in your home... maybe not everywhere... maybe some things might need changed. X10 isn't an out-of-the-box product.

My home is also two wire and no grounds in any outlet or switch box.
Most X10 Modules will be fine. Some like the WS13A Wall Switch for non dimming loads need a Neutral to operate.

Same here, 1959 house 2 wire mainly with a few exceptions and it works (for the most part). I owned a new house and everything worked out of the box but i did not have cfls in every room and electronic gadgets all over the place. I don't think you need a book, check out the wiki here

. Its a good place to start. With the price point so low buy a small kit and try it out.
