Home security systems qualify for the HRTC in Canada. X10 charges us GST so their equipment qualifies.
According to their website their GST # is 876601113
1st time I'm glad I paid GST to an American company.
BTW: A great free program for calculating your taxes is Studio Tax. I really like being able to try different credits between my wife and myself. It's not always better for the higher income earner to take a credit. I found that out this year with tuition and HRTC. It made a hugh difference who claimed what.
I suggest that if you are using the HRTC that you just enter "stuff" and the total amount of all eligable receipts, to see who gets the best bang for the buck. Once that's done then you can begin the arduous task of entering every receipt, GST #, Description and date of purchase.
