PS561 console ?

I am an old time  20+ year user of X10 products still using the original mods at home!  I am considering purchasing the ps561 console only + remote controler to use the siren/horn internal feature and the getting the external siren at my office.  I don't need all the other components included in the kit.  Nor do I want it to dial any phone numbers.  I "assume" it will work without a phone line hook up but just wanted to make sure.

The PS561 will work with or without a phone line connected. However, with just the console and a remote the only thing you would be able to do is manually send the console a panic signal. This would start it's siren (and lights flashing if your existing X10 modules include lamp modules set to the same house code). Without at least one zone sensor, arming the console with the remote won't do too much.
