I have an old ActiveHome kit that I got ten years ago.  Is there an upgrade software package available, or do I need to get the whole kit again?

If you got it 10 years ago you probably have the CM11A "ActiveHome" rather than the newer CM15A "ActiveHome Pro".
The most recent X10-supplied software for it is ActiveHome 1.42 which you can download at:
  http://www.x10.com/support/support_soft1.htm

You may need to use a USB-Serial adapter for it to run under newer versions of Windows, even if your PC has an RS232 serial port.

(The newer "ActiveHome Pro" software isn't compatible with the CM11A, but there are many third party programs which are.)

Yesterday it worked.
Today it doesn't work.
X10 on Windows is like that.
