X-10 powerhouse mini MC460
« on: January 25, 2010, 09:12:36 PM »

My MC460 appears to have expired -- used infrequently but always turned the lights on/off -- now there is no response from the on/off switch(controls 1 set of lights)
Should the little indicator light in the upper left be on if the unit is working ? this one is not

Thanks
Frank

I have had ancient MC460 quit like yours. I don't have one in front of me, but recall the problem as always being two charred resistors near where the power cord is soldered to the board. Again been a long time, but I think I fixed by replacing the resistors. If you open your MC460 and have the same visual symptoms and can solder I will find resistor values for you. Radio Shark used to carry little cards of five same vale resistors for $1.29 so repair was less than $2.60. However Radio Shark now probably charges more than the MC460 for one card.

I did open the unit but did not see anything amiss such as burned, damaged etc. I guess I'll just spring for a new one.....
thank you for your posts.
