Someting Wierd with AHP
« on: February 14, 2010, 12:29:05 PM »

Yesterday, something screwed up AHP.  Over the next two days, AHP (version 3.228) went nuts.  4 times I had to totally uninstall it, on the second uninstall I had to delete all the folders AHP uses. One the third install, x10Nets would not load, plus Hardware Configuration crashed, so the uninstall, delete all folders routine again.   Finally the fourth install went perfectly, X10Nets ran correctly and Hardware Configuration worked correctly, location is Baltimore, Maryland.

Timers run correctly, my single keypress macro runs correctly.    :)% :)% :)%

So... what went wrong? None of those things should have happened. Do (did) you have a bad sector on your Hard Drive. Have you done anything to track down the actual cause? Do you have a back-up computer?

I do back up my .ahx files regularly, Two games were installed yesterday morning by my wife.  I had done major defragging of the C: drive over Friday night but games get installed on the D: drive.  Everything fine now, I also deleted an old AHP version installer (in the high 180's) that looked like a good installer.   Chalk this one up the a "S*** Happens" occurance.

I know what you mean.  Yesterday I ended up doing a complete reinstall of windows and all HA software.  It was because of 2 Acapela voices I removed from Add and Remove Programs that completely busted my BVC.  BVC was crashing immediately as it was opened. (Dave, ask Bill about this).  Anyways, the computer is back up and running. I was able to save all my config settings from BVC and my .ahx files from AHP.

Monday I am borrowing a copy of Norton Ghost from work and putting an image of the HA computer onto one of my other drives so I don't have to go through all that trouble next time.

I keep complete back-ups... and a spare HA PC. But I like that idea of an imaged HD too.
