LM465 Module Responds to Wrong Unit Code?
« on: March 25, 2010, 06:57:11 PM »

Hi all,
New member here and first post.

I haven't messed with any X10 stuff for about 10 years, but recently found a box of modules, etc. while remodeling a bedroom. Of course, I dug it out and played with it. I have now learned about CFL flicker, but have another issue which is puzzling to me.

Using a Radio Shack 61-2677 plug-in controller, I have noticed a Powerhouse LM465 lamp module responds to a unit code other than the one to which it is set. In one location, the module operates normally. If I set it to "A-2", it responds to on/off  commands for "A-2".

If I plug the module in at another location, it only responds to commands for unit code "4", regardless of what the unit code is set to on the module. If I set the controller to any house code, the module will only respond to unit code "4" for that house code when plugged into that particular outlet.

I haven't tried it in every outlet in the house, but so far it appears that only that one outlet causes it to exhibit this behavior.

Any ideas?

You may want to take and gently rotate both the House and Unit Code Dials a few times.
If they are that old the switches maybe intermittent or making poor contact.
