Slimline vs. Mother Nature - place your bets!

I was searching and couldn't find a post on this...

My daily spam from x10 advertises a doorbell kit using a slimline (stick-on wall switch).  Do these slimline switches work outside against Mother Nature?  I live in Ohio so I expect it to have to deal with ice, snow, rain, sleet, hail, tornados, tropical storms, and a few sunny days (I kid!).  I have a couple of these switches but assumed they are kinda flimsy and meant for indoor use.  Anyone use them outside?

Haven't tried it, but my money's on mother nature...  Especially with the storm pictured in your avatar!

I would also bet on Mother Nature.
Also they have a reputation of short transmission distances. That is why we have folks adding passive radiator antennas at the top of them.

I also live in Ohio. And since I used to smoke... I am very educated about outdoor weather conditions. On those days when it doesn't rain or snow, or get steamy hot or freezing cold... are days I used to call good smoking days. Those same days would be suitable for keeping a slimline switch outdoors. Unfortunately after years of standing outside (smoking) and counting the good smoking days... I know Ohio only has about 10 of those days a year.

I think they have a new web designer. The picture of the Slim Line switch is one they used for their indoor "enunciator kit" to summon kids/dad/grandma etc from their rooms for dinner/phone/dog walk etc. I think it included three chimes.

I use a few of the Slim Line switchs and would not use them where they could be rained on. Perhaps they would be OK if protected, like on a porch.
